Banana Night and Regional Youth Christmas

We’re thankful for the growth we’ve been experiencing in the youth club – as the fruit of your prayer and support!

G62 – Student Ministry Team

The goal to have students be more involved in the life and ministry of the Youth Club arrived at a new level, when we started the G62 (based on Galatians 6:2) the student ministry team made up of 5 enthusiastic students. We’ve concluded the 6 session training with them, and now we use our regular Monday night meetings to plan the weekly youth meetings and the special events – like the Banana Night.

Banana Night

As part of the G62 training we had our student leaders to organize a special event, namely the Banana Night in November. The goal was to invite un-churched kids, who had never been at our youth meetings. The dress-code was “yellow” and the ‘entrance fee’ was a banana. We had a lot of fun, and at the summit of the event we invited the kids to the regular youth meetings. About 40 people showed up and a couple of them have been coming since the event.

Follow-up

A few weeks ago a new Bible-study group was started to teach the basics of the Christian life to those who had accepted Christ in the past few months. We’re right in the middle of this  six-step follow-up study and the 4 students and 2 G62 kids attend regularly – the latter to be able to do follow-up themselves in the future.

Regional Youth Christmas

The latest challenge is the Regional Youth Christmas which is a gathering of the nearby suburban youthgroups organized by our youthgroup. This coming Friday we’re expecting 60 kids to celebrate Christ coming to us in a tea-house setting, with worship, thought-provoking presentations and fellowship, fellowship, fellowship. Please, pray for this event.

Next year…

Please, also pray for us as we’re planning the coming year. We have a lot to thank God for, and looking forward to see His mighty hands at work through the Youth in Diósd…

    Hi Sany,
My heart is so full as I read all that you are doing! God is working in amazing ways in your life. I was looking at some old photos and remembering S’patak! I found a couple with you in and was reminded that we serve a great God. I love that he has taken you with all your enthusiasm and passion and is using you to reach young people! God bless in all that you do now and wherever he leads you.

      Dear Jenny,
Great to hear from you. Thanks for the encouraging words. Knowing how I was back then or what I had become in later years of high-school, I think noone (including me) had guessed that I would end up being saved by God later and striving for his Kingdom to reach kids who are like I was. God has a sense of humor :)
I still remember that Wendesday afternoons at your place (the games, oatmeal :) ) and the Fun Nights – and in some ways you had set the scene for my present youth meetings. Thank you!

I agree that God has a sense of humor and love that he has a perfect plan for all of us! We loved the time we spent with all of you. And I love the fact that he took you and is using all of who you were and are to glorify him!! God’s blessing on you and your family – hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

Thank you for your fervent prayers! Well, the scooter is hybernating right now – thank God I could put it in one of our friend’s garage before it got too snowy. I took the carb apart but it looked more complicated than I expected so after checking for obvious problems I put it back together. I reinstalled it put I could get the engine to start again, so I guess as spring is coming I’ll spend some “quality time” with it, and in the meantime read the service manual. Too bad it’s in Russian :) I wish I tried to fix it while Larry was here: I pretty sure he would have known what to do…
